[With a clearing of his throat, Merlin addresses the journal system.]

Perhaps...I am not really cut out to be a knight. Although, it'd be nice to get some of the recognition. A knight is never stuck serving breakfast.

[There's a quiet, longing look as Merlin looks "off screen" towards Arthur's abandoned sword. Knights, after all, had so much more of an acceptable heroism.]

Miss Fina, could I request an audience with you? It's about--err--what we talked about, last time. I could use some help.

[Merlin is shown drawing a palm across his face. He grumbles.] Arthur's still not back.

[ Fina follows him. ]

... You did mention that Arthur is still.. [ She trails off. ] I.. I'm sure he'll be all right, Merlin.

I'm not so sure. He doesn't exactly do well, without me. [He pauses, but eventually breaks into a small smile.] For all his training, he's kind of hopeless without my help.

I think he's very fortunate to have you. Even if there are times that he doesn't show it...

He hasn't fired me yet, perhaps that's showing enough. [He shrugs, saying this more to himself than to Fina.

And oh! There was what he wanted to talk to her about.] Last time, we discussed magic. You remember?

[And he's not sitting until you sit first, Fina.]

[ Fina remains oblivious to that detail, but fortunately for Merlin, she does lower herself onto the couch as he flings that question at her. She blinks, recalling the conversation during the experiment as the man seemed intent on going to the barrier to rescue Arthur, and she nods. ]

Ah.. yes, I do.

Do you think you could...show me how it works, the magic here? [His enthusiasm is very, very genuine. Clumsily, he takes a seat as well.]

Um... [ Fina looks around the room before Cupil chirps something at the Silvite. She nods at whatever the creature just communicated to her with and she raises one hand after a moment of consideration; the sound of a stream of air gushes around Cupil, threading the air together present in the room transparently around him, wafting the creature gently around the room.

She lowers her hand and Cupil settles back down. She stares at Merlin and asks sincerely: ] ... Do you mean like that?

Exactly like that. [He smiles from Cupil to Fina with such admiration.

And, wanting to give a demonstration of his own, Merlin focuses carefully on his own tea cup. His eyes mist over with gold and, as concentration sits in, the cup rises from the table and spins slowly in the air. So gentle is the action, the liquid barely sloshes a drop before he sets it quietly back on the table.

He shakes the concentration away, and his eyes return to normal.]

I can do this--but I want to learn Luceti's magic.

[ Fina watches Merlin wordlessly after his confirmation that an example of the Wind magic in Luceti was what he had wanted to see, before she becomes a little taken back as his eyes gleam in a mysterious, golden glow. The fascination of the hue of his eyes changing colour is short-lived as her attention is caught by the levitating piece of crockery rising from the table between the two of them and her green eyes are rapt on the tea cup currently being manipulated by Merlin, before the demonstration is over and he returns it back onto the table. ]

That... what kind of magic is that?

[He shrugs once again.] I've had it...always, I suppose. It's natural to me. Like breathing.

That's amazing...

[Stuffed with pride.]

Gaius said I was like something entirely new. No magic can be performed without incantations, back home. But I just think it and it happens. But--[sigh]--a lot of what I could do back home, I cannot do here. It's like there's something in the way.

[ Fina nods, understanding what he means by something obstructing their abilities. ]

Yes... in Luceti, I can't use some of the Silver magic pertaining to my civilization. I can channel magic from the moons, but it isn't very strong. I think.. it has something to do with the barrier here.

So instead, we're left with these...spirits. [He shakes his head.] I don't really like this place.

Um... they aren't that bad. Eferin is a bit... [ She trails off about the picky fire spirit. ] ... most of the time, the spirits are necessary.

Necessary?

[ Fina nods. ]

Some people, um.. myself included, find Nala's contribution helpful; I think her healing magic is stronger than my spells from the Green Moon in Luceti.
