Perhaps...I am not really cut out to be a knight. Although, it'd be nice to get some of the recognition. A knight is never stuck serving breakfast.

[There's a quiet, longing look as Merlin looks "off screen" towards Arthur's abandoned sword. Knights, after all, had so much more of an acceptable heroism.]

Miss Fina, could I request an audience with you? It's about--err--what we talked about, last time. I could use some help.

[Merlin is shown drawing a palm across his face. He grumbles.] Arthur's still not back.

[ ani hesitates. being away is no excuse to abandon... he could understand that well. as rebellious of a knight as he was, he still held on to the ideals and rules of the order with an iron grip and refused to speak of things (re: his marriage) here that he wouldn't back home. ]

As a knight myself, but presumably not the type you are familiar with, I know that concept well.

Kingdom? Uh, no. Not like that. I'm a Knight of the Jedi Order. We're guardians of the Republic, keepers of the peace.

So, you don't serve a king? [Well. That's odd.]

No. The Republic is a democracy, not a monarchy. The Supreme Chancellor does not have jurisdiction over the Order. He can make requests, but we are not required to follow them through. What we do is for the good of the whole of the Republic.
