[The sound of a throat-clearing cough.]

Can anyone tell me about a blue-haired girl who calls herself a soldier?

[But earlier this day--before he makes the voice post--Merlin is out picking up fresh ingredients for Arthur's evening meal. He is in the shop, picking through some vegetables. He looks...confused.]

[If he could be so bold:] Fina's lucky to have you.

[> ...It seems Merlin may be misunderstanding something.]

I feel lucky as well. [...] But we aren't together.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[It seems he's really, really misunderstanding things.]

Oh--[he laughs, uncomfortably]--no, I didn't mean that you two were...you know. Like that. Just that she's lucky to have such skilled help. But I suppose it's easy to be a good servant if your lady is as lovely as Fina is.

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-21 09:16 pm (UTC)(link)
[At that, he... actually looks amused.]

I'm not her servant either. We're friends.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
[Embarrassed pause.] I see. I just thought--err--when you answered the door and...[He trails off, sucking in his breath and exhaling with a clumsy:] I'm sorry if I've offended you.
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> listening)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-21 09:22 pm (UTC)(link)
You didn't. [slipping back into lineface, but... reassuringly so?] There aren't many servants here, though.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like a lot of people do things for themselves, here. That can't be such a bad thing, I suppose.
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> distance)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-21 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
It's not bad to need help. ...But I think it's better on equal ground.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-21 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Equal ground. [He repeats, quietly. It's a rather foreign concept.] It sounds like a good idea.
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> leaning)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-21 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
And it's harder to make work than it sounds. [...] But it still can.

[whoops, looks like the food is almost ready...]

sorry about the delay, total influx of responsibilities kept me away.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 01:05 pm (UTC)(link)
You think? [Merlin stands back--shirking duty as ever.] I can't imagine it working.
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> ?)

no worries <3

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-23 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[That's okay, he'll put the different ingredients together himself.]

Well, it works here.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Are there really no kings, or knights, or royal lords to step up and rule? Or do these Malnosso guys have the throne?
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> questioning)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-23 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
It'd be hard to get one accepted. Not everyone comes from countries with kings.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
That's right--[he misunderstands, as usual]--one bloke said he was an emperor.

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-23 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
True. [oh Merlin.] But I meant democracies.

=/ well that was failtastic

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-23 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Democracies?
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> I see)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-23 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Government run by the people.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 04:24 am (UTC)(link)
By the people? How do the people manage that?
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> normal)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-24 04:27 am (UTC)(link)
Elections.

[taking the food off the stove now.] You vote for a representative. Representatives vote on laws.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Voting? [He looks...amused. Impressed and amused. By both the concepy and the stove. He had been wondering where the roasting pit was.]

And that's how it works in your world?

In my country. [he sets it aside and retrieves some bowls] The Emperor's power is ceremonial.

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 01:41 pm (UTC)(link)
It sounds like a fantastic place. I mean, not that Camelot's bad. Sure, King Uther can be a very strict leader but quite a lot of the subjects are happy and looked after.
emp3thy: ♬ NEUTRAL | (> listening)

[personal profile] emp3thy 2010-01-24 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's good.

[here, Merlin, have a bowl of okayu.]

[identity profile] awaitingalbion.livejournal.com 2010-01-24 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
[He accepts it with a smile, wrapping his fingers around the bowl. It looks good.

His free hand reaches out for...a spoon? He recognizes this implement, at least.]
